The Learning Hub is run by David Jacobson (djacobson@edc.org). I am responsible for the site, and the views expressed herein are entirely my own.

I have recently moved the Learning Hub to a great new home, the Early Learning and Development unit at EDC. One of my projects is with the Center for Enhancing Early Learning Outcomes providing P-3 technical assistance to state departments of education. See Building State P-3 Systems: Learning from Leading States for a recent policy report.

I also support P-3 (aka Birth–3rd)  community partnerships. Recent projects include providing strategic technical assistance to partnerships in Cambridge, MA and New Bedford, MA. I recently documented the work of five Birth–3rd Alignment Partnerships for the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

In addition to P-3 efforts, much of my technical assistance work in recent years has focused on school and district strategy, improvement planning, and school turnaround. I developed the Common Priorities approach to structuring the work of teacher teams and have supported dozens of schools in implementing this approach, including large project implementations in New York City, Perth Amboy, NJ, and Fulton County, GA. Much of this work entails Common Core alignment activities, and I also served as the technical assistance lead to district Common-Core alignment initiatives in Worcester and Springfield. I have provided support to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in the development of the Massachusetts System of Tiered Instruction and a District Common Planning Time Self-Assessment.

I have a PhD. in Sociology of Education and Sociology of Organizations from the University of Chicago. My wife and I have a daughter who is in the 9th grade in the Cambridge Public Schools.
